Biogas from sewage sludge

500-600 thousand m3 sewage is produced daily in Budapest, 51 % of which is treated biologically at the North Pest and South Pest Wastewater Treatment Plants of Budapest Sewage Works.

The Company - based on international experiences and with the national scientific sphere - worked out the biogas program. This program, considering its size, modernity and construction is leading in Europe, and incomparable in the East-Central-European region. It consists of the environmentally friendly procession of sewage sludge and domestic integral wastes, and the production of the alternative energy. In the course of the environmentally friendly processing planned carefully, the plants generate thermal and electric energy out of biogas from the organic waste (leftovers, fats, vegetal oil, expired food products) and sewage sludge transported to the settlements. The settlements are practically self-sufficient through the energy they produce.

Camera sewer inspection

The Veolia Víz affiliates undertake the inspection and maintenance of household sewer connections and public sewers. With this modern camera sewer inspection system, they are able to define the reason of the technical problem without digging (above a diameter of 8 cm). A video footage and a condition inspection report are prepared on such inspections. The processing and archiving system connected to the camera and complying with the EU standards makes the application of a modern and cost-effective reconstruction planning and execution system possible.
Our subsidiaries perform the inspection of household sewer systems from the cleaning pitch or from the cleaning profile. The household clients often only face the fact that the construction of their household sewer system was not made in the most professional way during great rains. The flooding of real estates is in many cases caused by irregular connection, bad fitting or the lack of kits preventing flow-back, but obstructing can also be caused by the aging of the sewer network or the deposit of fats.

Leakage testing

The drinking water network is regularly checked with leakage testing. The information obtained in the course of the leakage testing and the failure statistics, we prepare maintenance and reconstructional plans.

No-sink covers

The sewer casts (covers) incorporated into the road network are subject to considerable load due to the always increasing vehicle traffic. The frequent sinking of traditional covers causes inestimable damage in the running gears of vehicles. In the meantime, the subsequent repair of such sinking represent several billion Hungarian forint costs on a national level every year.
The experts of the Budapest Sewage Works Ltd. developed in 2003 the new and complex technical solution, the so-called Duralevel System, which ensures the alignment of the manhole covers and sinkhole grids to the level of the road and at the same time that the casts and their environment to not sink as a result of the load coming from vehicle traffic. This result is ensured by the great load-bearing elements - the prefabricated and certified quality concrete rings, as well as (levelling) circle elements of various thickness made of anti-corrosion metal or plastic and inserted between the rings, the so-called scuffs - as well as a special mortar. The steel cast anchoring elements provide protection against movement.
