Sponsoring future dream swimmers

Although few know "Jövő SC", many people know their athletes!

The sport club with only one section, namely swimming was established in 2001 and has been playing a leading role in Hungarian swimming for 4 years now. The success of Jövő SC started back in 2004 when the "young Titan" Dániel Gyurta's Olympic silver medal astonished everyone. The swimmers of the club have been easily winning the point competitions of Hungarian championships in their age groups for the fourth year now.

13 athletes of the club participated in the Beijing Summer Olympic Games, meaning the third of the swimming team, which is an outstanding result. 12 of the athletes of the club participated in pool swimming events, while Csaba Gercsák competed in the long-distance swimming event (10 kms). 3 of the club's swimmers swam in the finals. Dániel Gyurta was 5th in 200 metre men's breaststroke, and he swam a European record in the qualifying round of the event, thus improving both his individual and the Hungarian record by 2 seconds.

Two female swimmers, Ágnes Mutina and Evelin Verrasztó qualified for the finals as members of the 4 x 200 metre women's freestyle relay, and were 6th in the team. The two athletes performed greatly also in individual swimming events. Evelin Verrasztó reached 8th position, broke the Hungarian record twice in medley swimming events, while Ágnes Mutina swam in the semi-finals in 200 metre women's freestyle, where she qualified with a new Hungarian record.

Other adult women athletes performed well too − Orsolya Tompa (100 m women's freestyle), Réka Nagy (800 m women's freestyle) and Katalin Bor (200 m women's breaststroke). Two young swimmers, namely Éva Dobár (50 m women's freestyle) and Réka Pecz (100 m women's breaststroke) arrived to the Olympic Games from the Youth European Championships. Éva Dobár became a European youth champion in 50 metre backstroke at this championship.

Strange as it may sound, despite the results, the team has not have a financial sponsor for all this time. It may be the only club in Hungary that is unable to sponsor even its top athletes having great results. The sponsorship agreement concluded between Veolia Víz Zrt. and Jövő SC changes this unfavourable situation. The contract term started on August 1, 2008 and ends on August 1, 2011. According to the contract, the sponsored club acknowledges Veolia Víz Zrt as its name-giving sponsor; thus, the name of the club was changed to "Jövő SC Veolia".

We support the newly named team and expect fantastic results from the young swimmers!
