Cooperation between Budapest Sewage Works and Budapest ELTE University

Using a non-returnable grant from the European Regional Fund the region's first Environmental Sciences Cooperation Research Centre was established in the Faculty of Natural Sciences of ELTE University with the aim of undertaking an active role in finding EU-compliant solutions to Hungarian wastewater and sludge problems.
The objective is to create technologies that can be applied both in small regional and urban wastewater treatment plants.
Our Company has been cooperating in this research since 2005, then concluding a two-year bilateral contract with ELTE University. The main areas of research are to work out and apply methods suitable for the determination of traces of pharmaceuticals (antibiotics and hormones) in wastewater, treatment technology monitoring and the examination of the possibility of breaking down industrial wastewater with special compositions.
