Drinking water services in Hungary

Expansion of the drinking water supply and controlling water quality

Veolia Water provides potable water to municipalities and industry in 57 countries around the world. Guaranteeing a water supply with the appropriate quality is a huge responsibility. In industrial countries, official quality standards offer a frame of reference. In case limit values are exceeded, the policy of our companies is in accordance with our obligation undertakings contained in the charter on sustainable development.
In developing countries, where comparable quality standards often do not exist, the recommendations of the World Health Organisation serve as the primary reference, particularly as regards microbial contamination.

Calibration between laboratories and accreditation of analytical methods

To enhance the performance of the network of laboratories and guarantee the quality of the analytical results they obtain, Veolia Water has set up an organisation that oversees the calibration between various locations: the Group's central laboratory (in Saint-Maurice, France) prepares water samples containing homogeneous pollutants whose composition remains stable over time. These samples are analysed by the Group's more than forty laboratories (in France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Brazil).
The results are compared and subjected to statistical analysis.
This process, a key to effective water quality monitoring, recently earned accreditation from a specialised accreditation body.
